Use clay and hand-building techniques to create a functional mug or cup! The class will go over the basic techniques of hand building with clay to create a functional vessel! Each student will end up with one mug or cup, fired and glazed! There's a limited assortment of glazes to choose from to finish your piece.

  • Ages 10+ are welcomed, if accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

    Each person participating must register separately for the class. Be sure to sign up ASAP to guarantee your spot and make sure it runs. Some seats may be available the night of, but it is recommended that you sign up early to ensure the class runs. We will confirm or cancel classes by 5pm the Thursday before.

    We do not contact waitlist participants for 2nd Fridays classes; please do not join a waitlist.

Shelton-Eide, Cindy

Cindy Shelton-Eide is an artist and art educator living in Richmond, Virginia. As a native of RVA, Cindy grew up exploring the backyard creeks that feed into the James River, instilling a love of nature that would later inform all of her artwork. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Painting and Printmaking, and later with a Master of Art Education. After practicing under the great tutelage of ceramic artists at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, she finally realized that clay was her passion. She now teaches ceramics full-time at Goochland High School and part-time at the Visual Art Center of Richmond.
