ONSITE: Slab-Built Platters + Vases for the Table

Adult Multi-Week | This class is completed

Learn basic methods for making plates and large platters using clay slab techniques, and then create complimentary bottles and vases to go with them. We will explore the process of rolling clay slabs and learn how to make “better” slabs with less warping. Students will then learn slumping and slab-forming using molds and hump forms.

  • You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit visarts.org.

Al Pellenberg

Al has been been playing and working with mud since he was a kid, his “Play-Doh Fun Factory” was just the best toy Al ever had. Al believes he became an architect and space designer as a result of all those things that he built in my “first childhood." Over the years he have been in and out of the clay studio. He worked on the wheel for many years making bowls, cups, teapots and the lot, but the move to hand-building has been very rewarding and offering a set of challanges that combine both his architectual training and creative side in new and different ways newgeorgiaclaywork.com
