Explore acrylic painting in this crash-course designed for the beginner. We will paint from life and from photo-references as we explore the basics of underpainting, color mixing, and layering paint to create a final product. Gain an understanding of basic color theory, various acrylic painting tools and mediums, and a bit about different painting styles. You can plan to walk away from this class with two or more finished paintings. This is a great jumping off point for students looking to get into acrylic painting, but aren't sure where to start. We will focus primarily on realism, but all styles are welcome.

  • This class is not wheelchair accessible due to a set of stairs.

Huddleston, Grace Mae

Hello! I am an artist and educator. My teaching centers around empowering teens and adults of all skill levels to deepen their connection to art making. I have taught in community centers, schools, and universities. My teaching emphasizes technical skill building and I love it when my students put stories, personality, and deeper meaning into their creations. I primarily teach all things 2D from drawing to painting to mixed media but also have experience with textiles and performance art! In my own art practice, I create 2D works that work with creative writing to build fantastical worlds and tell stories.
