Learn how to create a glass wall panel that goes beyond the standard square of glass. By learning how to cut curves, tight angles and complex forms, students will gain an understanding of how to fit glass together like a puzzle. Students will learn how glass melts in a kiln, and create a kiln firing schedule unique to their work.

  • Please wear closed toe shoes.

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit visarts.org.

Murphy, Kathryn

Kathryn Murphy is a mixed media artist who often uses mirrors in her work to distort and confront reflection. Murphy has been working with glass for over a decade, and received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Craft and Material Studies in 2018. While at VCU, Murphy received multiple grants and her thesis work was selected as the cover of the MFA Thesis Exhibition catalog. She currently resides in Norfolk, VA where she is the Program Coordinator at the Chrysler Museum's Perry Glass Studio. www.kateymurphy.com
