Come and make art side by side as a family. Each week, families will explore a new medium and create a beautiful project together. Create a functional, ceramic mug to be enjoyed for years to come! Each family member can make their own or you can work together to design and hand-build a clay mug as a pair or group.

  • Please note that we have made change to family studio registration: Each person must individually register. Registered children must be accompanied by a registered adult. This program is best suited for families with children aged 3 to 8, however, all family members are welcome. All materials and equipment are provided. Artmaking activities will involve some messiness; please wear appropriate clothing.

This class has a $5 fee to cover the cost of firing and clear glazing your finished project. Work will be available for pickup at a later date.

Families need to sign up before 4pm the day before class. Confirmations/cancellations will be made by 5pm on the day before. Please sign up as early as possible.

Shelton-Eide, Cindy

Cindy Shelton-Eide is an artist and art educator living in Richmond, Virginia. As a native of RVA, Cindy grew up exploring the backyard creeks that feed into the James River, instilling a love of nature that would later inform all of her artwork. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Painting and Printmaking, and later with a Master of Art Education. After practicing under the great tutelage of ceramic artists at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, she finally realized that clay was her passion. She now teaches ceramics full-time at Goochland High School and part-time at the Visual Art Center of Richmond.
