Discover the fundamental concept of jewelry design and learn basic techniques for working with metals in this introductory class. The class begins with instruction on techniques such as drilling, sawing, texturing, working with wire, and finishing techniques. Soldering with a torch will also be introduced. Students will then use these skills to make a piece of their choice and leave with a foundation of knowledge to take to the next level. Basic materials and tools are provided.

  • All materials provided. There will be a break for lunch so please bring a bring a bagged lunch.

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit visarts.org.

Lynalise Woodlief is a studio jeweler and fine artist, born and bred in Richmond, VA. She graduated from VCU where she studied design, sculpture and metalsmithing. She combines mediums such as glass and metal to convey a sense of humor, warmth and organic elegance.
