In this survey course, you will learn some of the fundamental techniques of stone setting including bezel setting, prong setting, and flush setting. In each class, we will learn a different technique and try our hand at it. Students will come away with a good grasp of setting techniques to incorporate into their jewelry-making practices. One wearable item will be created by the end of this course.

  • The skills necessary to complete the class include basic skills such as soldering, sawing, light forging etc. Will be setting semi-precious stones, as well as alternative materials. In this class, we will create one wearable item.

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit visarts.org.
