Let's make letterpress cards! We'll walk through the design and typesetting processes of letterpress printing. A selection of designs will be typeset and ready to print on the Challenge Proof Press and mini Kelsey Platen Press. Letterpress is a historic way of printing that involves setting individual letters and images into one of our century old presses. Learn about this fascinating process while making pre-set greeting cards.

  • Ages 12+ are welcomed, if accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

    Each person participating must register separately for the class. Be sure to sign up ASAP to guarantee your spot and make sure it runs. Some seats may be available the night of, but it is recommended that you sign up early to ensure the class runs. We will confirm or cancel classes by 5pm the Thursday before.

    We do not contact waitlist participants for 2nd Fridays classes; please do not join a waitlist.

Kay, Natalie

Natalie Kay is the owner of Off the Beaten Press. She lives and works in Richmond, VA but plays all over. An avid traveler, she finds inspiration for her designs everywhere she goes. Natalie grew up in the Washington, DC area and has a degree in Graphic Design from James Madison University, where they taught her the difference between a typeface and a font. She has a huge passion for design which translated naturally to printmaking. She loves to letterpress and shares that love with her students through classes at the local art center.
