Wovenless - means it has the look of a woven pattern, without actually weaving the slabs together. Slabs are simply laid on top of each other. This takes the stress away from actually trying to weave clay slabs together. This workshop is for anyone looking to add textual and visual interest to their hand-built pieces. We will use a slump mold to to form the piece then use a variety of underglazes to create interesting surfaces.

  • All materials and equipment provided.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

  • This class includes all clay needed. Students will underglaze work, and items can be picked up at a later date.

Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined by our website. For more info visit visarts.org. This is an On-site course. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program: if interested please visit visarts.org.

Palmer, Stephen

I received my B.F.A. from Rhode Island College, and continued my study of sculpture in Italy at the Tuscan Renaissance Center. As a member of the South County Art Association in RI and now at City Clay, in Charlottesville, VA, I continue to explore the many forms and function of clay. Through teaching, I hope to share and ignite the same passion and excitement in my students that I have for the ceramic form. instagram @steve_palmer_ceramics https://www.facebook.com/Steve-Palmer-Ceramics-426802860805793
