Digital Photography + Photo Editing (Ages 12-14)
Youth Summer Camp | This class is completed
Learn how a digital camera works, how to import photos to computers and how to use Adobe Photoshop to edit. Go on field trips around the neighborhood to take photos, and enjoy demonstrations, hands-on practice and detailed overviews on composition and creative decision-making. Students must also have permission to go on walking field trips around the neighborhood.
This class takes walks around the neighborhood, so dress appropriately. Students may bring their own digital cameras. Students can bring an iPhone, a basic point and shoot or a DSLR. If you need to borrow a camera, VisArts has very basic point and shoots cameras. Please email tstephen@visarts.org to reserve one, as we have a limited number!

Em White
Raised in rural Virginia, Em White is a self-taught artist and educator. She specializes in analog photography, specifically large format film and wet plate collodion. She often works with alternative and historic processes, enjoying any opportunity for experimentation and play. When not in the darkroom, she can be found walking along the river with her three hounds or making tintypes at her analog portrait studio here in Richmond. Em has taught at VCU, the Penumbra Foundation and various arts institutions.
