This class is a safe space for women, trans, and femme folks to learn introductory darkroom processes. Learn how to take photographs using 35mm film, process your own film, and print black and white photographs in a darkroom.

  • Some materials and equipment are provided. 35 mm camera, paper and film will need to be purchased by the student. The chemicals in the darkroom are potentially hazardous or harmful if not handled properly (teacher will go over this in the first class). Wearing closed toe shoes are preferred, and clothes you don't mind getting some darkroom chemicals on in the case it gets a little bit messy here or there.

Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. For more info visit visarts.org. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program: if interested please visit visarts.org.
