During this 5-day intensive, students will make small-scale 3D glass castings. Possibilities are paper weights, a bas relief tile or bowl, a small lidded box and small sculptures. Techniques include working from found and natural objects, sculpting forms, making duplicates, mold making and finishing. No previous experience is necessary.

  • Prerequisite: Available to students with basic glass skills to advanced. This class is not geared for beginners. General studio materials are supplied with the materials fee, but glass will be charged to the student based on how much they use.

    Instructor speaks Spanish, but the class is held in English.

    Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

    This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. For more info visit visarts.org. Schlotzhauer, Jude

Jude Schlotzhauer is a full time studio glass artist with a BFA in painting and an MFA in glass working. In addition to teaching glass kiln working at VCU for over 25 years, she has taught as a visiting artist at many universities and art centers throughout the country and in Mexico and Malaysia. Her work is in many private and corporate collections, including Capitol One, Verizon and Chesapeake Capitol Corp. Her public art commissions are installed locally at MCV, Randolph Community Center, Fire Station 16, Childrens’ Museum, and VCU dining center, and as far away as a Marine Officers complex in Japan. www.judeglass.com
