Painting Glass on Film with Colored Pencils

Workshop | Available

Participants in this two day workshop will learn techniques for drawing colorful glass objects on drafting film using colored pencils.

After careful observation they will discover how light transmitted through glass will bring the subject to life by creating interesting shapes, subtle color combinations and sparking color filled cast shadows.

All participants will take home a colorful 7 x 7.5 inch drawing.

  • Grafix drafting film and drawing boards will be provided along with "tool bags" containing erasers, sand paper boards and sharpeners.

Note:  There is a $2 cash fee to be collected at the class.
  • Large set of professional quality colored pencils.

Cathy used Prismacolor Premiere for her drawing.

Heller, Cathy
Cathy Heller

Originally from Bound Brook, New Jersey, I relocated back to New Jersey after living many years in Northern Virginia where my husband and I raised our two children. We maintain a summer home on LBI that has been in my husbands family for 70 years. I received my Associates of Arts from Centenary College, where I completed course work in drawing and art history. I have since developed my skills by taking courses and workshops with well known professional artists in colored pencil, pastel, and watercolor. I am currently working almost solely in colored pencil, a medium that suits my style of representational art. I like to draw landscapes, seascapes, and still life using a bold, colorful, and minimalist approach to my compositions. I am a member of the Pine Shores Art Association, a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, and the Metro Washington Chapter 109 of the CPSA. While living in VA, I was an exhibiting member of the Artist's Undertaking Gallery and Spirited Collections Gallery in Occoquan, VA. My work was selected for exhibit at the Art League Gallery in Alexandria, VA; “Explore This” in Stuart, FL; the “Signature Showcase” in Del Ray Beach, FL; and the CPSA Chapter 109 colored pencil exhibit at Strathmore Hall, Bethesda, MD. My paintings were selected for five international colored pencil shows across the country. I recently received my 5 year CPSA Merit Award at the Chicago Exhibit in 2018 where my juried painting BAKELITE BANGLES was selected for The Legion Paper Award for Exceptional Merit. Locally at Pine Shores, I have been honored to receive the Best In Show award for two previous Fall Harvest exhibits, a Judges Choice Award, and the Tom Rutledge Realism Award. I am happy to live in Ocean County and while a member of Pine Shores Art Association I plan to explore new techniques in my chosen medium and capture the natural beauty of the seashore and the pine lands.
