Celebrate 250 Years with Watercolor

Let's celebrate our Country's 250th Birthday with Carol Freas!

The Pine Shores Art Association's July Exhibit will showcase art created by our members to celebrate our nation's birthday.

This class will be designed to help you create artwork focused on this topic to display at the show!

Carol will have theme appropriate photos for inspiration but feel free to bring your own.

The first class will begin promptly with a demo and discussion.  Students will then paint while Carol provides guidance along the way.

The second class will start promptly with a review of the paintings from the previous week and a demo.

  • Bring whatever watercolor supplies you have and use.

My focus of watercolor painting has intrigued me for over forty years.  Exploring the illusive, unpredictable quality of transparent paint continues to be a pleasure and a challenge.  Sometimes combining the juicy paint with pen and ink leads to a tighter effect.  Or working on yupo paper that doesn't absorb the paint for wonderful color mixes.  Even layering patterns and texture with collage papers to form an abstract is exciting.  With a degree in Art Education I now continue teaching adults at the prestigious Foundation of Arts and Science in Loveladies, NJ.

Growing up on Long Beach Island provided strong images of its unique beauty in contrast with environmental issues of loss and change.  My family came in 1926 so I focus on its people and history.  I also illustrate and write for a local magazine, Echoes of LBI, plus jury national exhibits.
