“Capturing the Light” Watercolor Workshop with Lynn Ferris, AWS, NWS, TWSA, FWS

Light and shadow are essential design tools that can transform a painting’s impact.

In this signature workshop, Lynn Ferris guides students in using light and shadow to strengthen composition, create drama, and convey mood across a variety of subjects.  Students will work from instructor-provided reference materials to maintain a focused and cohesive learning experience. Personal photos will not be used during the workshop.

The emphasis is on understanding and applying concepts—exploring light sources, shadow patterns, and techniques for creating a convincing sense of glow—rather than completing a finished painting.

Each day includes a 45-minute demonstration followed by guided studio time. An afternoon demo completes the morning project, allowing students to continue working with individualized instruction and feedback.

Handouts and reference materials are provided.

All levels welcome, but experience in watercolor is required.

Note:  The photo used for this workshop represents Lynn's work.  It is not the image to be painted in class.
