Loose & Juicy Florals in Watercolor
A Two-Day Watercolor Workshop
Discover the joy of painting beautiful, loose, and juicy florals! This workshop will focus on the balance of water, pigment, and expressive brushwork, encouraging students to paint with greater freedom, confidence, and spontaneity.
Day 1 – Exploring Loose & Juicy Florals
Morning Session: Through demonstrations and guided exercises, we will explore the unique shapes of flowers and foliage while experimenting with water, pigment, and brushwork on hot press, cold press, and rough watercolor papers. Discover how different surfaces influence the flow of color and softness of edges.
Afternoon Session: Using our morning techniques, we will create a floral still life, focusing on fresh color, loose brushwork, and expressive composition.
Day 2 – Bringing Florals into the Garden
We will move beyond individual flowers to painting clusters and groupings within a colorful garden landscape. Students will learn to suggest flowers through shapes, values, and color rather than painting every petal. Add a charming building, doorway, or figure to personalize your scene.
Students may paint along with the instructor to develop a faster, looser approach or work from their own reference photographs.
It's About Learning, Not Perfection!
A workshop isn't necessarily about taking home a finished painting. It's about exploring new techniques, stepping outside your comfort zone, and developing skills that will enhance your future paintings. Give yourself permission to experiment, make mistakes, and enjoy the process!
Remember, less is more! Learn to paint with confidence, capture the essence of your subject, and know when to put down your brush.
